Space Sales Engineer

This position is 100% onsite at either our Bohemia, NY or Poway, CA locations unless traveling to customer locations (20 - 40% travel).

The compensation for this role is $120,000 - $140,000 annually.

This position requires a U.S Person or a person who can qualify for a Department of State or Department of Commerce License.

Position Summary:

The Applications Sales Engineer serves as the technical and commercial bridge between customers, engineering, and sales. This role combines deep technical expertise with customer-facing sales support, driving business growth through technical solutions, proposal development, and customer engagement. The individual will support both pre-sales and post-sales activities, contribute to new business capture, and ensure that PDC solutions align with evolving customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement & Sales Support

  • Act as the primary technical interface with customers, supporting both pre-sale and post-sale activities.
  • Support sales efforts by developing technical solutions, presentations, and proposals.
  • Participate in customer meetings, design reviews, and technical discussions to identify requirements and position PDC products.
  • Assist in developing win strategies and pricing inputs for new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer engineering and procurement teams.

Technical Expertise & Product Support

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned product families.
  • Analyze customer requirements and translate them into technical solutions and product configurations.
  • Evaluate competitor products and support competitive positioning strategies.
  • Resolve technical issues, answer customer inquiries, and overcome technical objections.

New Product Development & Strategy

  • Support new product development from concept through production.
  • Provide voice-of-customer feedback to engineering and product management.
  • Contribute to product roadmaps by identifying emerging market needs and technologies.
  • Assist in defining product requirements and validating solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as liaison between customers, engineering, manufacturing, and business units.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment on strategy and execution.
  • Provide technical training to internal teams and customers on new products and technologies.

Documentation & Communication

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including Data sheets, Application notes, White papers
  • Support proposal generation and technical content for customer submissions.
  • Track opportunities and communicate status updates internally.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Experience: 6–8+ years of experience in:
    • Applications Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Technical Sales
    • Background in space or aerospace electronics with experience in radiation-tolerant components, power architecture, and embedded computing systems such as single board computers (SBCs) or flight processors
    • Experience supporting customer proposals and technical sales efforts strongly preferred.
